It has been more than a week since the Easter Sunday Mexicali earthquake, but better late than never.

Many of us have thought, or, frankly, even hoped, that natural calamities would mainly fall on sinners.  A famous verse came out of the San Francisco earthquake:

If, as they say, God spanked the town

For being over-frisky

Why did He burn the churches down

And spare Hotaling’s whisky?

But Jesus Himself has spoken to this point.  Luke 13:4-5 “Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them – do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem?  I tell you, no!  But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

It looks like other things than rain, to quote Jesus again, “fall on the just and the unjust.” (Matthew 5:45)
